Christ went to Hades to redeem the Old Testament saints from hades and to deliver the New Testament saint from the power of the devil. That is the reason why He exclaimed in Psalm 16:10
“For thou will not leave my soul in hell (Sheol)…”
and also:
“For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell (Sheol)…” Psalm 86;13
So, all the promises and prophesies about Christ going to hell were fulfilled as He died on the cross and descended to the lowest part of the Earth. He had to die and go to hades that “through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” Hebrews 2:14-15
