The Book of Psalms in the Bible is one of the most known Scriptures among many Christians and non-Christians alike. Many Christians use it as charms for different reasons and few really understand the scope of God’s Truth revealed in it. What is the Truth of God revealed in the Psalms? Let’s begin with
Psalm 1
1. Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.
The man who is blessed is the one who walks with godly people, stands in the way of the godly and sits with the godly. This blessed man walks in the way of God and does not walk in the way of the unrighteous nor the wicked.
2. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.Â
The blessed man delights and meditates in the Word of God, listens to it and obeys it.
3. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper.Â
Many times God compares His people to trees, good trees, and here He says that His people are always green and fruitful; they prosper because they walk with God.
4. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 5. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
In sharp contrast, the wicked, who walks in his unrighteous way is like chaff blown away by the wind of God’s wrath. And for that reason, the wicked cannot stand when he is judged and he cannot go into the way of the righteous.
6. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
God knows who are His people, the righteous He has seal with His Spirit forever and they will always way in His just and holy way. The ungodly, who know not God and walk in the way of the imaginations of their heart, shall perish forever, too.Â
This Psalm describes the way of the people of the world who God created. The Lord Jesus Christ confirms these two distinct ways in Matthew 7:13 and He names them the broad and the narrow way. The whole of humanity stands on these two ways. Some for salvation and some for condemnation. What is your way?
