“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”… Gen. 1:1
In eternity past, something we can only speculate about, God was.
Then, God decided to create this world, the universe and humankind. He says in Revelation 4:12 that He created all these things for His own pleasure.
God created man. He created man perfect. He created man and woman to rule and have dominion over the rest of His creation. He created the animals and the vegetation of the whole world. God saw that everything He had created was good.
He created good… and He also created evil.
God planned the fall of man with the sole purpose of redeeming a people for Himself. He planned this in eternity and He brought it to fulfillment in time.
There are many today, who deny God’s existence. They believe in unproven theories of the world’s cataclismic beginnings. They don’t know that the Creator laughs at them and He has prepared a place where they will be for eternity lamenting their foolishness: Hades.
God, the Creator, saves His people everyday, but He also damns those who He did not choose to salvation. He is the potter and we are the clay. He makes vessels of honor and vessels of dishonor; vessels of mercy and vessels of wrath.
“Has not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make a vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?” Rom. 9:21
So, what pitiful man should say before the Creator of the universe?
When Job, who was a just man, was justifying himself before God, and God spoke to him and said, “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?…”
Job could only respond, “I have heard of you…but know my eyes see you. Therefore I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes.” Job 38-42
That’s the reaction of a man who recognizes how helpless he really is. That’s the saving faith attitude that everyone should have…but…all have no faith, because faith is a gift of God, also.
