Holding the Truth

Spread the love

Once, a well-intentioned preacher held a baby in his arms and told his congregation, “God would never send a beautiful child like this to hell. What kind of a God is that?”, he asked.

Well, that’s the God of the Bible. The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. This preacher had (maybe) good intentions, and certainly, he did not want to offend anybody, because that is the way the boneless, so called “Christianity” of today, acts.

Unfortunately for the preacher and those who hear him and don’t know any better, this is a lie. God sent all the families of wicked Korah to Sheol, including the little ones. They all descended alive into the pit. (Read the 50 verses of Numbers 16)

So, children also go to hades (or hell). The children of the wicked are as wicked as they are even when they appear innocent. That is not the way we determine the nature of the righteous and the wicked. We cannot judge by outward appearance. To do so is an abomination to God. We have to judge with righteous judgment; we judge with the truth.

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;”

Romans 1:18

This was never a dilemma for Jacob, who knew where he and his children were going. He was sorrowful, but he had hope because he was a believer. He believed that God was going to redeem his people from the power of Sheol.
